Drivers' Intervention Programs (DIP)
Empowering Lives • Encouraging Accountability • Inspiring Change
At Empowering Minds, we are dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenging transitions with dignity, insight and hope. Whether you’re seeking personal growth, professional development or court-mandated programming, our approach is rooted in compassion, integrity and actionable tools for transformation.
Court-Certified Drivers’ Intervention Program (DIP)
If you’ve been convicted of an OVI/OWI in Ohio and your court has ordered completion of a certified Drivers’ Intervention Program, we are here to support you through the process. Our program meets the requirements set by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OMHAS) and the provisions of the Ohio Revised Code (Sections 1547.99 and 4511.19).
Why choose our DIP?
- We offer a 72-hour residential format which allows many first-time OVI offenders an alternative to a mandatory jail term.
- We provide a respectful, structured environment designed to help you understand the physical, psychological, social, and legal implications of driving while impaired.
- Our focus is education and empowerment — not just fulfilling a court requirement, but helping you make meaningful changes for the future.
What to expect
- Check-in begins on Thursday evening between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. and the program concludes on Sunday evening by 4:00 p.m.
- You’ll reside onsite for the full duration — departure or late arrival will require restarting the program to stay compliant.
- During the weekend, the curriculum covers topics including
- Levels of license suspension & revocation, fines and incarceration consequences.
- Blood Alcohol Content (BAC), drug impairment, definitions of legal impairment.
- Symptoms of alcohol and other substance use disorders; the progressive nature of dependence.
- Physical, psychological, and social consequences of substance use & the impact on driving performance.
- Meals, lodging, educational materials and certificate of completion are included in the pricing for each program.
- Upon successful completion, we issue your certificate for court submission and fax completion data to the ordering court and Ohio Department of Motor Vehicles.
Who is eligible?
The program is intended for first-time OVI/OWI offenders who meet the eligibility criteria set by the court and OMHAS.
If your case is more complex (repeat offenses, concurrent charges), speak with your attorney or probation officer to confirm eligibility for the DIP option.
Why Our Approach Makes a Difference
At Empowering Minds, we believe this weekend is more than “just something to check off.” It’s an opportunity to
- Pause and reflect on what led to the incident — not to shame, but to understand.
- Gain concrete strategies to avoid future driving-while-impaired risks — for your safety and the safety of others.
- Fulfill your legal requirement in a way that promotes lasting change and improved decision-making.
- Walk away with the certificate you need — allowing you to move forward responsibly.
